Reflections on the Love of God This week, I received a sweet drawing from one of my little ones. It warmed my heart, especially with the school year just beginning. She asked if she could also give a beautiful and precious picture to her former teacher. I smiled and said, “Of course you can!” She looked up at me and said, “You see, she just doesn’t know how much I love her!” Her words absolutely melted my heart and got me thinking: sometimes people are like that when it comes to the love of God. They just don’t fully realize how boundless His love is for us. To put it simply, He is absolutely crazy about each and every one of us, yet sadly, some haven’t come to know that truth. Ephesians 3:18 says, “And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how high, how long, how deep His love is.” God’s love is truly unparalleled. He has an open-door policy and welcomes us into His presence, no matter who we are or what baggage we carry. Agape: The Unconditional Love of God The love of God is often described as agape love, a deep, unconditional kind of love that far surpasses our human understanding. Many of us have experienced love in ways that feel conditional: “I will love you if…”, “I will love you when…”, or “I will love you as long as…” But the love of Christ is the complete opposite of that. The Bible tells us that God knew and loved us even before we were born. From Day One, He had a distinct plan and purpose for each of us, one that only you can fulfill. I once heard a speaker say, “Just in case you were ever wondering, your purpose came first, and you came second.” Simply put, God had great plans, and He created you to fulfill them. It’s both humbling and exciting to ponder. Forgiveness: A Revelation of God's Grace Years ago, during my time as a clinical social worker, I had a session that left a lasting impression on me. My client opened up about her past, pouring out her heart with raw honesty. As much as she wanted to believe in God’s forgiveness, she simply couldn’t fathom that it could apply to her. In her own words, she felt “too far gone” and like “damaged goods.” For years, she had carried the weight of guilt and regret, convinced she was one of the worst people walking the earth. I could feel her pain deeply. As she spoke, tears streamed down her face. It was an honour to gently share with her the truth: her mindset was misinformed. The God we serve is the exact opposite of what she feared. He is ready and willing to forgive all our sins. Not only does He forgive, He forgets. He keeps no record of wrongs. The cross crossed out every sin. That day marked a beautiful breakthrough. Her heart began to open to the possibility that forgiveness was available to her. What a revelation! Maybe this is a revelation for you, too. If so, tuck this truth into your heart today: God loves you beyond measure. If you’d like to experience His love and forgiveness, you can begin with this simple prayer: A Prayer for Forgiveness and New Life Dear Jesus, I admit that I am a sinner. I believe that You are God and that You are able to forgive me of my sins. I ask You to forgive me and become my personal Savior. Come into my heart and change me into the person I am meant to be. Help me to live for You from this day forward. Thank You for coming into my life, and thank You for loving me just as I am. In Jesus’s name, Amen Sending you a virtual hug, Dana Copyright: 2025 littlelessonslearnedbydana (Dana Romualdi) Tags: God's love, forgiveness, love of Christ
